Sarah's place was amazing and aesthetically pleasing. A very comfortable and home-vibe when we walked through the doors. Sarah was super easy to get in touch with, and she responded within a few minutes-half and hour. She even left us some banana break to snack on! A super warm and friendly host coupled with a cozy space. The only issue would be natural lighting, otherwise this place is definitely worth visiting to spend on a cold windy day or humid warm day! 10/10 would revisit.

Sometimes when you have uber-specific taste (and good taste at that), finding the right mid-century modern venue can be a quest. Full of beautiful clean lines and natural light, this style is where vintage charm meets modernism and has almost become its own identity.

Whether you're dreaming up a soiree for your first birthday party as an adult in a chic space or you're head of a major corporate project that needs a stylish home base, the Giggster app is a treasure trove of options.

If the sleek glass walls and natural wood finishes of the properties you love feel a bit out of your budget, fear not. We specialize in connecting clients with architectural and design masterpieces at affordable prices.

Ready to ring in your next big milestone amidst the sophistication of a mid-century modern building? From Downtown to West Vancouver, the Giggster app is home to every hot showroom, building, and estate in the city.

Why Choose Giggster for a Mid-century Modern Venue?

One of the great things about design is that you can see its influences spread between creative industries and throughout all aspects of life. Here are all the places you can find your desired aesthetic from North Vancouver to the West End.

  • Small but mighty, you can get just as big of an impact from a modern mid-century apartment as you would from a mansion. These lofts are located closer to the heart of downtown and boast a cozier, more intimate setting. We must admit they have quite the romantic charm!

  • If you want expertly curated spaces and the works of the best designers in the industry, perhaps you should head directly to the pros. Filled with state-of-the-art furnishings, showrooms make surprisingly good event spaces and could also be useful for film and photo projects.

  • The restaurant industry is also no stranger to this style, with mid-century modern interiors popping up at every hot dining room in the city. Gorgeous accent bars, statement chairs, and a new-meets-old blend of decor are certainly taking over the bistro and bar scene.

  • Sometimes, inspiring spaces crop up where you least expect them. Did you know that many of the best boutique pilates and yoga studios across Vancouver have adopted a mid-century modern style? Launch a product, host an employee wellness retreat, or use the space in an unexpected way and leave fitness out of it.

Amazing Mid-Century Modern Locations in Vancouver Starting at Just $21/hour

Exceptional Variety & Quality: With 253 different venues to choose from that fit within this niche style, you’d be hard-pressed not to fall in love with “the one”.

Hassle-Free Booking: A unique event venue isn’t worth it if you can’t expect full transparency, simple processes, and good service from your booking platform. Thankfully Giggster has it all. We’re affordable too, with value-driven pricing starting at just $21/hour!

24-Hour Free Cancellation Policy: We know flexibility is important to you when making a big decision. That’s why we’ve made it possible to cancel, penalty-free, within 24 hours after your reservation is made (provided your rental starts more than 48 hours in the future).

Platform Protections: We’ve all heard horror stories, but we want you to feel totally comfortable when you rent a mid-century masterpiece like Loft Creative Studio. That’s why we can’t recommend purchasing our optional protection plans enough. If disruption, damage, or liability concerns arise, our team will handle all the stressful stuff while you get back to everyday life.

The Best Events for a Mid-century Modern Location in Vancouver

Thanks to their chic features and variability in property type, mid-century modern venues can host a whole slew of events throughout the year. Here are some of our favorite ways to give new life to these rentals:

  • Film/Photo Shoot – Interior Scenes or Lifestyle Shoots. Movies, commercials, editorials, social media content, and product imagesa perfectly curated space will only add character and a feeling of authenticity to your creations.

  • House Party – Cozy and Comfy. Gone are the days when hosting in your own space is the go-to for a killer house party. To throw a soiree that guests will talk about for years to come, you can always outsource to a home or apartment that’s everything you wished yours could be.

  • Campaign Launch – Modern and Professional. Do you have a product line or advertising campaign that’s ready to premier to the world? Invite your industry bigwigs, your dedicated staff, or some social media-savvy influencers to a private event in a beautiful space that’s sure to leave everyone inspired about the big things to come.

  • Magazine-Worthy Micro Weddings – Trendy Space. Elopement-style weddings with an intimate gathering of your loved ones are taking over the industry. For a celebrity-style way to say “I do”, choose a stunning Vancouver home that’s guaranteed to have a high visual impact. The best part? You don’t have to do a thing when it comes to decor.

Top Features to Look For in a Vancouver Mid-century Modern Venue

Though Giggster offers a myriad of event spaces for you to choose from, it's important to figure out what features you need in a venue so you can get the best match for your needs.

Are there seats available? A variety of seating will go a long way toward keeping everyone comfortable and maintaining a good mix-and-mingle flow throughout any event.

Does it also have an outdoor space? You can find a mid-century venue with modern furniture in any city. If you want to prioritize a British Columbia experience, ensure your venue has some outdoor space. Embrace a blend of indoor/outdoor living with a touch of nature; we promise you won’t regret it.

What kind of lighting does it have? Good lighting, natural or from high-design light fixtures, is a must for any project or party. Not only does this “set the mood” and make for a more sophisticated atmosphere, but there’s also a good chance your venue makes an appearance in plenty of photos so don’t cheat your Instagram out of the good stuff.

Location, location, location. From a gorgeous nearby park to a cute cafe in walking distance where you grab fresh pastries, the right neighborhood makes all the difference.

Does it have good reviews? Even though all our spaces have received the Giggster stamp of approval, don’t take our word for it! It’s hard to argue with a track record with lots of 5-star reviews so don’t be afraid to weave through previous customers’ feedback.

Things to Consider for Renting a Mid-century Modern Location in Vancouver

With rugged mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and striking architecture abound, there’s much to admire about Vancouver BC, but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows! Before you visit and host within the city lines, here are some positive and negative details you’ll want to bear in mind:

Advantages

  • Have people traveling from out of town to attend your event or work on your project? Vancouver’s International Airport is one of the best connected in the country and the US land border is nearby for those traveling by car.

  • Vancouver’s public transportation system has a reputation for being good, which is pretty impressive when you consider this is one of the most highly criticized features of any city. Whether you need a bus, train, or even a ferry to get to your destination, it should be smooth sailing.

  • Whether you have staff or guests joining you in your rental, you’ll want to keep them fed. Thankfully, the city’s culinary scene is one of its most raved-about features. Not only will you find insanely fresh seafood just about everywhere you go, but the variety of international restaurants is top-tier.

Disadvantages

  • Traffic congestion is a hassle, at best, but can also impede your budget if you opt for a taxi or rideshare service to avoid hopping behind the wheel yourself.

  • Vancouver is more susceptible to natural disasters than other areas of the country. During the summer, wildfire smoke can pose issues around air quality, and there is a decent earthquake risk due to its location as well.

  • Winter weather is a headache Canada-wide, but because Vancouver has less annual snowfall than other destinations, the infrastructure and city services needed to deal with it effectively are not great. If you run into a snow day, you might want to consider having a backup plan (or at least a lot of extra time to get the show on the road).

Planning Your Event in Vancouver

The perfect project or event execution all comes down to good planning. Making your plans early and incorporating as many of these pro tips as possible will help keep everything in check.

Create a Planning Timeline Having a calendar-based checklist (also known as a day-by-day breakdown) of every small task you need to do leading up to the party will help to ensure nothing gets forgotten. While it might feel redundant and like you are assigning random jobs to arbitrary days, this is the key to staying organized and avoiding last-minute panic.

Have the Money Matters Talk Even if you are the sole host responsible and don’t have anyone to answer to when it comes to your spending, it doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion about what constitutes a worthwhile expenditure and also have some level of accountability now that you have spoken a budget into existence.

Take a Tour of the Neighborhood Whether on foot or by car, it’s worth taking some time to explore the area surrounding your rental, once you’ve chosen it. You can identify outdoor spaces nearby where you may send guests for a breath of fresh air or a smoke break, a local deli where you can enlist some help with catering and refreshments, or assess any random street policies (like parking hours) that may impact your guests.

Get Some Extra Hands on Deck Like anything worthwhile, it takes a village. Whether this is hired help through the form of a lengthy list of vendors or a whole list of favors you’re calling in from friends and family, organize a list of things you’ll need some help with and who would be best suited for the job.

Saving Money on a Vancouver Event

For such an expensive-looking aesthetic, achieving it can actually be quite affordable. Keep some of these budget tips in mind while planning your soiree in a mid-century modern venue.

Check Pricing for Different Dates And we don’t just mean rental rates with us. Get a couple of quotes from vendors you’re seriously considering for different dates. You may find out they have surge pricing on weekends, busy seasons, or even peak hours of the day. Depending on the service, arranging an early delivery might even be enough to reduce costs if you can handle getting it to the venue on your own.

Speaking of Delivery, Avoid It Wherever possible, do your own pickups and setups. You may need to enlist a few friends if there are a few at the same time, or someone with a larger vehicle should you need the extra space, but delivery charges can be hefty so do your homework before deciding whether or not the time saved is worth it.

Have an Emergency Fund A budget is a beautiful thing, but breaking it is about as common of a party-planning mistake as it gets. While sometimes a splurge that’s not totally thought through will tip spending over the edge, it’s often little contingencies and forgotten costs that get you.
