Great location with plenty of rooms to film or store gear in. The location manager was delightful to work with and Michael was quick to respond. The dentist chair rooms were a little small. So you'll have to be okay with a tight squeeze and not a lot of space for lights and audio. However, we were able to get a camera, boom pole, 3 tripods, 1 panel light, a few tube lights, and 3 people in the room we filmed in. So, you can make it work!

About New York

New York is known for many things; it's a great place to live, work, and go on a round-the-world gastronomic trip. With a population of folks who originally hail from different parts of the globe, the food scene in NYC is equally diverse and delightful.

Pros and Cons of Cooking Classes in New York

Movies and TV shows have glamorized the Big Apple to the point of making it seem like a city with few shortcomings. Before you lock down a cooking class space in New York it's best to find out about the benefits and challenges you'll encounter along the way.

Advantages

  • Diversity
New York is a melting pot of cultures, lifestyles, people, and food. The multi-cultural population influences the city's food scene making it undoubtedly the perfect place to host a cooking class.

  • The food
You've probably heard folks rave about the food in New York. Whether you have a penchant for comfort food or internationally-inspired dishes; you'll find it all in the city. It's another reason why the city is the perfect place to host a cooking class.

  • A thriving arts scene
The Big Apple is home to a thriving Broadway scene, the acclaimed NYC Ballet, and scores of fascinating museums. The rich arts scene presents plenty of inspirations for a themed cooking class.

  • It's easy to navigate
New York provides lists of options when it comes to transportation. The subway system is extensive and reliable while most places are within a walking distance. Accessibility will give you an upper hand when organizing a cooking class that runs for several days or weeks.

  • The social scene
The Big Apple is a great place to network with lots of opportunities all around town allowing you to mingle with like-minded people. Your cooking class will equally be another event that most folks will look forward to attending.

Disadvantages

  • The weather
You can beat the weather extremities by choosing an engagement party venue that is well ventilated and includes cooling/heating systems. It's better to choose an indoor venue even during the spring and fall months because the weather is quite unpredictable.

  • It's costly
You'll want to grab any available discount because putting together a cooking class can become a costly affair. Whether you are charging participants or not, keeping everything pocket-friendly will attract more participants.

  • Traffic
If your cooking class is pegged on attendance, you might have a difficult time convincing folks to attend if it means getting caught up in traffic. Choose a convenient cooking class space in New York and also schedule classes when participants are less likely to encounter terrible traffic.

  • The competitive atmosphere
With 8.4 million people living in NYC, it's easy to see why there's fierce competition for jobs. You'll face a similar problem when putting together a cooking class and your marketing efforts should be compelling enough to attract the right crowd.

  • The city is overcrowded
The huge population and throngs of tourists who visit at any given time make NYC quite an overcrowded city. Have this in mind when scouring around the city for a cooking class space because participants won't want to navigate queues and crowds.

  • NYC is dirty
Most people are surprised at how some parts of NYC are quite dirty. You won't do your cooking class any justice if you go for a location in a neighborhood that is less than savory.
